scripts in /etc/cron.d PDF Print E-mail

I had put some scripts in the directory /etc/cron.d but they just wouldn't be started...

after a bit of searching I found the answer. Scripts in this directory cannot end on something like .xx (.pl or .sh for example)

I'm not sure why this is, but know you know as well.
