Always wanted to have your bookmarks and addressbook on every machine you use. This is howto do it. (you'll have to use firefox and thurderbird)

{slide=Bookmarks}There are several ways to do this.

  • Jeteye (addon, bookmarks in only 1 level)
  • Google bookmarks (addon, Uses labels, so bookmarks can exists in multiple folders)
  • Foxmarks (uses your builtin bookmarks, you can use your own webdav on theirs)
  • others...

I like foxmarks the best. It isn't an addon, it is able to sync your shortcut bar also and you can be in control.

I have set-up my own webdav and use foxmarks to sync with it. This is all very easy. Use your account, fill it in, fill in the location and you're done.{/slide}{slide=Addressbook}I always wanted to synchronise my addressbook, so I could use the same addressbook on every computer. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to finde out how LDAP works. I heard about Addressbook synchroniser and gave it a try.

Just download and install the tool and your off. It automaticly finds your addressbook(s), all you have to do is fill in your webdav environment and upload your addressbook(s). Select the auto upload and download to do everything automaticly. (oh , and don't forget the settings)

NOTE: Put this command in your virtualhost if you have trouble with synchronising (Preconditon Failed).
